This is a perfect place for a painting holiday. There are 5 superb properties, 4 in the beautiful historic farmstead of Cyffdy. Each property carries the Wales Tourist Board 5 star grading and each is an oasis of peace nestled into
the hillside with breathtaking panoramic views from every window of the Aran, Arenig and Berwyn Mountains. The cottages with a wealth of oak beams and vaulted ceilings have all been recently refurbished to a very high standard

For the painting course the Cottages will be occuppyed
on a shared basis. The cottages are self-catering, with shopping facilities in the near by town of Bala. However lunches, tea & coffee will be provided during the course.

The courses

Some of the topics included in the course are:

• Backgrounds (texture, mingling colours, hard & soft edges)
• Darks (how to mix them, Where &when to use)
• Shadows (mixing greys, using blues)
• Composition (creating a centre of interest, unity, Varity & movement, how to simplify
• Color Theory (colour wheel, etc)
• Working from Life
• Working from Photographs
• The Principles of Watercolour Painting
• Transferring Images onto Watercolour Paper
• Watercolour Techniques(washes, special
  effects)

The courses have been planned to take in to account the individual needs of students; therefore the content may possibly change slightly to reflect this

Learning takes place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where students can learn at their own pace with the support of the tutor

The courses run from Saturday 20th March to Saturday 27th March and Saturday 2nd October to Saturday 9th October. Both courses are for 7 nights.

There will be an introductory afternoon on the day of
your arrival with tea and coffee and a demonstration
from Kim. Then 9.30 - 5.00daily, except Wednesday
when there will be no tuition to allow for sightseeing
in the area.

Non painting partners are very welcome.

Costs

If packed lunch is required for non-painters this will be charged at an additional £6.00 per lunch.
